1/11/2024 0 Comments R personalfinanceI'm at a loss on what can be done at this point. ![]() I finished talking to the Huntington branch manager not too long ago who gave me the same answer that there was nothing they could really do without Schwab filing a dispute first. And Schwab can't file a dispute because there's no record. This makes sense, but Huntington is telling me that, while they can investigate the issue, the only way they can is by having a financial institution file a dispute against them. Schwab says they can't file a dispute against Huntington because they have no record of a transaction and that the issue is completely consolidated on Huntington's side. I have gone back and forth between Schwab and Huntington multiple times throughout the past week. I quickly talk to the bank teller who refers me to the customer service line on the machine since it is managed by a third party. Bill gets put in, the ATM accepts it, and I hit no receipt because I was under the assumption that it was accepted and all was set, and I was more concerned about the cash that was just lost. I had 1 $20 bill left and tried depositing that to see if it would work. Immediately, I put my card back in and tried depositing again in the hopes the cash was still there. I put my card in, the money door opens, and I don't know if I took too long or what, but I put the wad of cash in the chute, and the screen says "Transaction Failed" or something along those lines. I did not know the exact amount, that was sorta the whole point of depositing so I could just get it in my account instead of having it on me. Last week, I deposited an unknown amount of cash amounting to at least $300 but likely less than $600. I was under the assumption that if the ATM did not accept my bank or card, it would tell me since that is what has happened in the past at other ATMs. ![]() I did not know that Schwab didn't accept ATM deposits, nor that Huntington did not do cross-bank deposits. I know my actions will probably be criticized, and rightfully so- but yes, I deposited cash via an ATM using my bank (Schwab) while the ATM belonged to another bank (Huntington).
